Don Waddell has stepped down as the general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes after reports that he was granted and interviewed for other positions.

The Carolina hurricanes have announced that longtime general manager. Don Waddell has stepped down effective immediately and named his immediate successor. Albeit with an interim tag.

Don Waddell has resigned from his position as President and General Manager of the #Canes. Eric Tulsky has been named interim General Manager.

Eric Tulsky the Hurricanes assistant general manager has been named Don Waddell's Replacement in the interim while they look for a new general manager. There is also a chance that at some point the Hurricanes take the interim tag off of Tulsky.

Waddell had been with the hurricane since 2014 and had been there general manager since 2018 before being granted permission to speak with other teams prior to his contract expiring later this summer. I have a feeling that Tulsky Was always going to take over and that's Why they let Don Waddell speak to other teams, but the timing of this is interesting. We have to see if Waddell got one of the vacancies he interviewed for yesterday.

It's shaping up to be a busy off-season for the teams not still in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
