Junior hockey player falls with trophy while celebrating with fans
For the most part, the hockey season is winding down around the world with professional and junior leagues getting ready to hand out their championship trophy. It's always a special moment for players to be able to hoist a trophy and celebrate their hard work all season to get to that moment.
For Culin Wilson of the South Shore Kings, a team apart of the NCDC's United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL), he had a memorable moment of his own on Sunday that may find himself on the 'Misplays of the Month'.
Wilson and his South Shore Kings team were taking on the Ogden Mustangs in a best-of-three series to determine the winner of the Dineen Cup. Game 3 on Sunday went to overtime, meaning whoever scored the next goal would be hoisting the Dineen Cup as league champions.
Just over three minutes into the extra frame, Wilson's teammate Justin Ryan scored the championship-winning goal, giving the South Shore Kings their first-ever Dineen Cup.
"#DineenCupFinals: Here it is, folks! Your @SSK_Hockey game-winning goal by Justin Ryan to give the Kings their first ever Dineen Cup Championship.
Congratulations to all the Kings."
Once the team was celebrating with the trophy, it was Wilson's turn to hoist it over his head and that's when the hilarious moment occurred. As Wilson skates over towards the fans with the trophy above his head, he loses his balance and falls to the ice.
It's safe to say that this is a moment Wilson, his teammates, family and fans won't forget for a very long time.
