Senators GM denies rumour Tkachuk on his way out of Ottawa
With just over a week to go before the National Hockey League Trade Deadline, teams are getting a feel for who's buying and who's selling and although the Ottawa Senators are grossly underperforming Senators, General Manager Steve Staios has made it clear that captain Brady Tkachuk will not be dealt by March 8th.
Staois was adamant on the GotYerBack podcast that the Senators are building their franchise around their young captain and that the young captain is the type of person, player, and leader that he is, and the rumours are the furthest from the truth.
The rumours could not be further from the truth, we're building this team AROUND Brady Tkachuk and the type of person, player, and leader that he is.
When you look at a player like Tkachuk, you can pinpoint a couple of criticisms, but he is a great leader and has an awful lot of room to grow, not to mention he continues to say the right things to the media about wanting to be in Ottawa.
Appreciating that Staois speaks highly of Tkachuk should make the twenty-four years feel at ease that he's trusted and that he shall remain in Ottawa for the long term, but we know that occasionally a GM will say one thing publicly and say or do the complete opposite behind closed doors, but only with the idea if it makes sense to move to franchise forward. Time will tell whether Tkachuk will stay in Canada's nation's capital, but if this writer was a betting man, he would put a couple of bucks on him staying for the duration of his career.
