It's a busy day on the NHL waiver wire. Three names have landed on waivers, including two from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and one from San Jose who is having his contract terminated.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed former top-10 pick (8th overall in 2016) Alex Nylander on waivers, as well as defenceman Dakota Mermis.
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Alex Nylander to a one-year deal in late November after mounting injuries to their roster. He was on an AHL-only contract until that time.
Nylander managed to get into the lineup for five games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but failed to hit the scoresheet.
Dakota Mermis has yet to play in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 30-year-old veteran has played a total of 74 NHL games over the years for the Arizona Coyotes (now Utah HC), New Jersey Devils, and Minnesota Wild.
Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks have placed defenseman Valtteri Pulli on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. Pulli has yet to play in the NHL and is heading home to Finland to play hockey.
Finally, Alec Regula, placed on waivers yesterday by the Boston Bruins, has been snagged by the Edmonton Oilers.
