Jesperi Kotkaniemi opens up about mistake he made which nearly cost him his career in Montreal
NHL fan bases can be tougher than others. Players living out their dream with big market teams need to deal with the intense fan base and media on a day to day basis. It can get strenuous.
Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniem admits his second season in Montreal was tough during his appearance on the 32 Thoughts Podcast.
Kotkaniemi had a promising start to his NHL career posting 11 goals and 34 points in 79 games during his rookie season. In his second season things didn't go as well posting 6 goals and 8 points in 36 games. Injuries and the pressure was starting to pile on.
Kotkaniemi good buddy on the team Joel Armia helped him deal with the pressure. Armia told him to ignore the noise, and only focus on yourself.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi on 32TP admits his second year in Montreal was tough, dealt with injuries, he was reading a bit too much of what the media was saying and it got in his head a bit and adds Joel Armia helped him with that since he hates all media lol, told him to ignore it. It is great when stories like this come out, the veteran player helping the youngster figure out the show.
