After missing the playoffs for the second time in their three NHL seasons so far, the Seattle Kraken are looking to make it back to the big dance in 2025 and could be active in free agency.

Kraken General Manager Ron Francis likely won't be a big player in free agency, but could look for complimentary pieces for his core and there won't be a shortage of those once free agency opens on Canada Day.

While it's still a little to early to tell what the free agent market could look like, given that a several could re-sign with their current team, the Kraken have been linked to two players, one of whom is a former first round pick.

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Seattle Kraken have their eyes on Max Domi and Anthony Duclair, if they decide to test the open market rather than re-sign with their respective teams.

"A couple of players on Seattle's radar if they hit free agency in July are Max Domi and Anthony Duclair." Pagnotta said.

Domi, 29, had a solid season for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are expected to make a big push to keep him. In 80 games during the regular season, Domi put up 47 points (nine goals, 38 assists), 118 penalty minutes and was a plus-ten. He went on to add four points in seven playoff games.

While he took a bit of a step back in the goal scoring department this season when compared to the 20 he had in 2022-23, Domi could be a solid middle-six piece for the Seattle Kraken on a lower-term contract. But there's no doubt that he could be seeking more than the $3 million he was earning as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, which shouldn't be much of an issue for the Kraken. As of today, May 27th, the Kraken have $23 million in cap space for the 2024-25 season and the most notable free agent they have to sign is 21-year-old Matty Beniers.

If Max Domi hits the open market on Canada Day, there's no question there will be plenty of interest in him, it's just a matter of where he wants to spend the 2024-25 season and potentially beyond.
