In the middle of the continued controversy involving J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed the Canucks likely plan for the feuding pair.
Yesterday insider Elliotte Friedman discussed the ongoing tension between Miller and Pettersson revealing that the conflict was starting to impact the locker room.
After divulging this information Friedman followed up on the situation during his 32 Thoughts Podcast with Kyle Bukauskas where he spoke about what is next for the Canucks and their stars.
Many fans and media have assumed that one or both of the players will be traded in the future to stop any and all tension in the locker room.
However, Friedman's new comments have shifted away from this idea and instead reaffirmed that the Canucks hope to keep both.
Elliotte Friedman confirms the Canucks do not plan to trade feuding stars
While discussing Petterson and Miller the Sportsnet insider first gave his opinion on what the Canucks plan to do with Miller.
When Miller took his break, I think there were teams that called the Canucks and asked, 'When he comes back, is he going to stay a Canuck?' And I think the the Canucks basically said, 'We don't want to trade this guy,' Friedman said
With Miller safe from a potential trade Friedman then confirmed that the Canucks have had several chances to trade Pettersson as well dating back to even last season and have still shown no interest in doing so.
Add in the fact that Pettersson recently received a big extension from the Canucks and his spot on the roster seems cemented in as well.
And I think that with Elias Pettersson, we all know now, last year, that they could have traded him, and they didn't, and they gave him a lot of money, and so that says to me, by action, that the Vancouver Canucks believe they are a better team with both of those players...
With all of this now out there it seems that despite the fighting and turmoil in the locker room the Canucks front office will hold strong and try to keep things going in the right direction with both Miller and Pettersson.
If the saga continues though the Canucks might have no choice but to move one of them then the question becomes who do they pick?
