One thing we've all seen this week with the news around the hockey world is that things can change in an instant. One minute, you can be enjoying life and the next it can all come crashing down around you.
On Monday afternoon, another near tragedy took place, though this time the players involved appear to have avoided the worst . The Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL announced that 3 of their players were involved in a motor vehicle accident. While 2 members are no longer in hospital, the 3rd is still being evaluated for their injuries and hasn't been released as of yet.
According to the statement, forwards Angelo Fullerton and Lucas Romeo along with defender Brayden Schmitt were in an accident on the way to Cape Breton and were transported to local hospital. Fullerton and Romeo were released late Monday night while Schmitt remains in hospital so his injuries can be monitored.
The Eagles along with general manager Sylvain Courtier have expressed gratitude at the care the three veteran players have received as well as mentioned that they're happy no one in the other car was hurt as well.
The Eagles expect that Schmitt will be released from hospital in the coming days'.
Thankfully, everyone involved in this incident was okay and able to get the medical attention they needed.
Update - Brayden Schmitt has been released from hospital.
