One of the biggest questions this off-season is where will Barry Trotz coach next? After an unceremonious firing from the New York Islanders, the former two-time Jack Adams award winner essentially could pick whichever job opening he wanted. It was more like Trotz would be interviewing teams to see if they're a good fit for him instead of the other way around. But as head coaching positions are now starting to fill up, the question remains, where will Barry Trotz end up next year?
After the Philadelphia Flyers and Vegas Golden Knights head coaching vacancies were filled, it seems like Barry Trotz may not want a head coaching job this year. The only «big» job left would be the Winnipeg Jets. Though it is intriguing to see what someone like Connor Hellebuyck could down under a Barry Trotz system, I don't think that is somewhere Barry Trotz wants to go. Now that Trotz has purchased a home in Nashville all signs are pointing to him possibly returning to the Predators organization.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet stated that Barry Trotz could be looking to try something different and move more into a front office roll. He said that the Nashville Predators have maintained a close relationship with Trotz over the years and would possibly be willing to having him join the team in a management position. This would make more sense as to why Trotz recently purchased a house in Nashville. David Poile has been the General Manger in Nashville since the team's expansion into the NHL. Maybe the organization wants another familiar face around in Trotz for whenever Poile retires.
