Breaking News - Insider provides major update on Nathan MacKinnon extension, and it's not good news
Nathan MacKinnon spoke at the NHLPA Media availability last week and expressed his interest to remain a member of the Colorado Avalanche long-term. But during the availability he also spoke about being tired of being referred to as the most underrated player in the league as well. All that he'd share about the contract was that it, "wouldn't be single digits."
Earlier this summer Adrian Dater broke the story that MacKinnon was looking to become the highest paid player in the NHL. While MacKinnon never confirmed his agent did allude that was his intention.
Today though Dater provided a new update that should have some Avalanche fans nervous.
I'm hearing the Avs and MacKinnon may not be as "close" as people think on a new deal.
I still can't fathom a deal NOT being done, but that's the latest.
MacKinnon did make it known that he didn't intend to negotiate during the season, which only gives the Avalanche a few weeks to lock down a deal with their best player. Imagining an NHL where Nate MacKinnon isn't a member of the Avs, is almost unfathomable.
