When Claude Giroux was dealt from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Florida Panthers, he was hoping to win his first career, Stanley Cup. Unfortunately for Giroux his season ended at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

When Giroux was traded he showed a mix of emotions, some obvious relief to go to a team that was winning while part of him was understandably upset. However, many believed Giroux and the Flyers were going to part ways at the end of the season anyways. Giroux is a pending unrestricted free agent this summer, while the Flyers are looking to rebuild.

In his final interviews after being swept by the Lightning, Giroux surprised many people by taking a shot at the Philadelphia Flyers.

It took me 15 years to end up with an organization that truly values success more than ticket and merchandise sales, I don't see myself leaving that anytime soon.

That comment is surprising, but it should also send a message to the Ottawa Senators. Earlier this off-season Pierre Dorion told Senators fans they won't be spending to the cap, until they sell out every game. If Giroux is looking to play for a franchise who values winning, the statement by Dorion likely goes against what Giroux wants in his next deal.
