Los Angeles Kings looking to move top prospect to speed up their window to contend
It's been rumored by Lisa Dillman of The Athletic that the Los Angeles Kings will take calls on Center, Quinton Byfield. She expanded upon this by stating that Rob Blake should definitely explore what's available for their 1st round pick. Selected 2nd overall in 2020, the expectations are high for someone like Byfield, so it'd be interesting to see the return.
Quinton Byfield was expected to make his full-time NHL debut at the start of the 2021-22 season but would succumb to a treacherous injury that would cause him to miss a considerable chunk of the regular season. When he had broken his ankle in a pre-season game against the Arizona Coyotes, not only did the LA Kings miss Byfield as a depth piece, but it also greatly halted his development.
As someone who had his development stunted by injury, I feel like a trade would be unfair to Byfield, as he's only appeared in 40 games, but made an impact on the ice.
Either way, Byfield is a future star with massive upside as a power-forward with playmaking potential and whoever has him will be lucky to.
