Colorado Avalanche expected to make desperate move to try and win back-to-back Stanley Cups
The Colorado Avalanche sure have been hit by the injury bug lately. Now Nathan MacKinnon has been added to a long list of injured forwards. NHL Insider Elliott Friedman believes that Colorado is interested in a big name forward. With all the injuries the club is currently enduring, they might be looking to add a top six forward soon. Chicago Blackhawks forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews have been rumored to land in Colorado. Bo Horvat of the Vancouver Canucks is also another potential forward the Av's might be interested in.
When healthy, we all know how talented the Avalanche are. Adding another top six forward would put them in Stanley Cup contention once again. The trouble is this team needs to get healthy so they can get into the playoffs. As it stands right now, Colorado holds the final wild card spot in the Western conference. However, there are multiple teams right behind them.
If the Avalanche made a trade for a big name now, that could alleviate some of the pressure on their forward group and help the team gain ground in the standings. So perhaps Colorado might pursue a big trade soon. It's something to keep an eye on.
