Craig Berube finally comments on the threats and messages received by Nazem Kadri
Craig Berube drew a ton of criticism when he refused to comment on the threats and racist remarks Nazem Kadri had received before Game 4. Today though, Berube took the time to address the situation after being made aware of some of the comments Kadri had received.
Berube began his press availability giving the following statement:
I'm not on social media. I was aware of a threat made to Nazem, not the racist stuff. In no way is it acceptable by the St. Louis Blues or anybody else for him to have to go through that. Being a Native American myself, I've heard it all, I've been around it.
It's not a good thing. So I just wanted to get that out there that there's no room for it anywhere.
Kadri's family has been subjected to racist comments and death threats, after the collision with defensemen, Calle Rosen and Jordan Binnington.
The NHL has also not stepped up to rein it in or hold those fans accountable, whether in the digital atmosphere or arena, it is unacceptable. The NHL also chose not to address Jordan Binnington's water bottle throwing after he sustained the injury.
When Thomas Stillman took ownership of the Blues he issued the following statement.
We are honored and humbled to take ownership of the St. Louis Blues. Our new ownership group is 100 percent local, and we are 100 percent committed to the Blues and to St. Louis. We see the Blues as an important civic institution, and we know what the Blue Note means to this city and to the best fans in the NHL.
While the Blues' owner has done a lot in the community of St. Louis this is a huge opportunity for the organization to work with the Hockey Diversity Alliance and the community to educate further.
