Last night with the Edmonton Oilers leading the Calgary Flame 3-2, Mike Smith gave up the worst goal of his career. While on the penalty kill the Oilers turned over the puck inside the Calgary Flames line. Rasmus Andersson picked up the puck and fired it on net from 132 feet away. Unfortunately Smith completely lost the puck and it beat him cleanly.
Luckily for Smith the Oilers would score 2 late goals to give them a 3-1 series lead. After the game Smith was asked about the goal and had this to say:
Reporter: Mike.. obviously, give me your thought did you not see the puck what happened?
Mike Smith: I can laugh now right? Haha...I'm.. I mean obviously I... I don't think there's been a time in my career where I lost the puck. Where I've had no idea where it went and talking to some guys after and I wasn't the only one that didn't know where the puck was either, so it made me feel a little better.
The series now shifts back to Calgary for Game 5 on Thursday where the Oilers will try and close things out. A win would give the Oilers their most successful playoff run of the Connor McDavid era.
