Eastern Conference team has reportedly offered a top 15 pick for Josh Anderson
Josh Anderson is one of the Canadiens biggest trade chips. But he also holds a lot of value to the Canadiens. Meaning any trade for Anderson will come at a premium. Enter Lou Lamoriello, who has stated that his goal is to make the team better, not by drafting players, but by trading.
Evidently, Lamoriello thinks Aatu Raty will be enough to save the aging Islanders' core. With Chara likely gone, Nick Leddy now in St. Louis, and an underperforming offense(22nd overall in the NHL) it's not been a great look, especially after Barry Trotz took an older roster to the playoffs in two seasons but was dismissed after this season.
So in an attempt to improve it appears Lamoreillo has offered to move the Islanders 13th overall pick for the former Columbus Blue-Jackets power-forward.
Lane Lambert has been brought in to change the culture and give the players a new voice in the room, but are the right players here for Lambert to flourish?
Anderson would be a solid addition, in terms of creating space on the ice, but he's not a high-point scorer, at least since 2018-2019. He's one to stick up for his teammates, but in terms of finishing, he lacks the consistency but will crash the net regardless.
Marco D'Amico had this to say about Josh Anderson's game:
«Josh Anderson is a North-South power-forward that can take the puck up the ice in a hurry. He has a wicked wrist-shot and has a nose for the net; causing all kinds of mayhem in front of the net. Needs to play with a speedy and creative center to maximize his abilities. With a Mat Barzal, he could possibly hit 25-30 goals if healthy while providing strong, physical play.»
It remains to be seen whether Anderson is in the Islanders' future, but for now, is a Hab.
