Edmonton Oilers call up shares gruesome details of broken nose and how it was fixed
Recent call up Vincent Desharnais is doing everything he can to make an impression on the Edmonton Oilers. I'd say so far he's already made a solid impression. Desharnais hasn't let an injury slow him down either. TSN Radio Host Jason Gregor reported that Desharnais broke his nose the first shift in last Saturday's contest against the Vegas Golden Knights. That didn't keep the big man out of the lineup though. He abruptly had it reset, which sounds excruciating, during the first intermission break and got right back to the game. He finished the game with just under thirteen minutes of play.
Desharnais didn't let a busted nose slow him down whatsoever. He was upset the way Vegas forward Keenan Kolesar went after one of his fellow teammate and prepared to fight if he had to. The fight didn't happen but Desharnais is already proving to be a warrior for the Oilers. That is exactly the kind of heart and toughness this teams needs.
They reset it in the first intermission. Took three cracks. Then one more after the game. It didn't feel great (laughs).
So far the experiment to recall Desharnais to Edmonton has been a good move for the Oilers. He brings size and physically to the lineup, something Edmonton could use more of. It never hurts to have a guy protecting his teammate as well. In five games played, Desharnais has three assists. Will Desharnais continue his good play and solidify a roster spot? We'll have to see. For now he's trying to make the most out of every opportunity that he's been given and you hope to see him succeed.
