Matthew Tkachuk put the Calgary Flames up over the Oilers with a hat-trick in Game 1. Keith, while being a former pro player himself isn't cut from the same mold, as his sons, Brady or Matt. Keith would fight, but there is one thing he wouldn't do:

I'm not throwing my hat. We're 3-0 when I wear that hat, and the net was there anyway. I don't listen to anybody except Chantal (his wife).

The Hat is from O'B Clark's a bar in St. Louis, which he feels is a lucky charm as if hockey players aren't superstitious enough, Tkachuk persists with the stereotype, along with the lack of on-ice buy-in, by tossing a hat for his son's game.

Keith who ended his career in St. Louis coaches a AAA team in St. Louis, along with being an investor in St. Louis sports radio, married Chantal who he met in Winnipeg at the beginning of his career.

Tkachuk led the NHL in goals during the 199697 season with 52, the first American-born player to do so.
