Linesmen break up a scrap before it even starts - Is the NHL trying to end fighting?
The NHL Rookie tournament has already been a handful of fights over the course of the last week. Games between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, both saw prospects take hard punches that dropped players to the ice.
After some criticism from some radio personalities, like Ian Mendes in Ottawa, it appears the league is trying to stem the fighting in the rookie games.
During tonight's game between the Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames, Wyatt Wilson and Adam Klapka dropped the gloves for what was to be a highly anticipated tilt. Unfortunately as the two men came together the linesmen intervened almost immediately.
There have been multiple fights which have started in similar fashion and not result in official intervention, so do you think this was directed by the league? Or was it purely an on ice official decision?
