Lou Lamoriello gives an awful quote on his failure of a summer
The New York Islanders accomplished nothing over the summer. Lou Lamoriello was expected to make a significant attempt to improve his franchise, but he came up empty. Now ahead of the season, Lou Lamoriello and team ownership took part in a town hall to discuss the team.
Instead of taking accountability for the shortcomings Lou took another approach, one that likely won't sit well with many people.
At the business alliance tonight @UBSArena Lou said it was the #Isles who decided that the available free agents were not a fit, not that they were unwilling to come here. He said they all were. Also, that they drove up the prices for the other teams on purpose!
It's difficult to believe that Lamoriello and the Islanders didn't feel that a player like Johnny Gaudreau wasn't a fit. Last season the Islanders were one of the bottom 10 teams in the league at scoring goals. Every year under the Islanders the team has regressed, so after firing Barry Trotz it's likely Lamoriello on the chopping block if the Islanders struggle this season.
