Maple Leafs upset again after referees blown call costs them a penalty shot
With the Boston Bruins being automatic contenders this season and a new head coach you'd think they play by the rules. However, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins original-6 rivalry continued once more last night.
Goalie Linus Ullmark did a very shady thing, which officials in TD Garden went on to ignore, leading to another goal against the Maple Leafs.
Linus Ullmark was defending the net against Mitch Marner, however, that doesn't excuse him, by throwing his stick at Marner he put himself into penalty territory with other skaters on the ice. Reference the NHL rulebook for this.
Ullmark should've been assessed a penalty and Marner given a penalty shot for the goalie. It was absolutely reckless that officials allowed him to get away with it! It is 2023 and NHL officials have been underperforming as long as I can remember.
This had the feel of a playoff game and Ullmark is a good enough goalie that he should have never done that, but I wouldn't accuse the NHL of never giving the Bruins any favors.
