Max Pacioretty suffers serious injury, expected to miss at least half the season
Max Pacioretty was acquired by the Carolina Hurricanes in a deal earlier this off-season. In the deal Carolina forced the Golden Knights to accept "future considerations", in an attempt to embarrass their cap situation. Now it appears karma may have bit the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes just announced on their Twitter account the Pacioretty has suffered a serious injury that will require surgery.
Max Pacioretty will undergo surgery to repair a torn Achilles. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Kevin Logel at Raleigh Orthopaedic on Wednesday. Pacioretty's expected recovery time is six months.
If the surgery is a success Pacioretty could return as early January, but depending on the severity of the injury and rehab process post surgery, Pacioretty could miss longer. This would put a real damper on the Hurricanes attempts to win the Metropolitan Division.
We hope Pacioretty has a speedy recovery and gets back on the ice as soon as possible.
