National Hockey League camps open in a matter of days and with that, teams are offering some final professional tryouts to veterans and the Edmonton Oilers are no exception.
According to Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic, the Oilers have signed veteran defensemen Jason Demers to a PTO.
Demers, 34, played in 5 games in the KHL last season collecting one assist. He hasn't played a game in the NHL since the 2021 season in which he played 41 games with the Arizona Coyotes.
Throughout his NHL career, Demers has played in 699 games split between the San Jośe Sharks, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes. He scored 45 goals and added 169 assists for 214 total points.
At worst, Demers doesn't make the Oilers out of camp, at best, the Oil add a veteran presence on the back end.
