Philadelphia Flyers Scott Laughton gets hilariously pranked on the Nasty Knuckles podcast
Don't be fooled, even if a player suggests that the trade deadline is all part of the process and they're okay in the days leading up to it, they're lying, This was evident as recently as this past deadline when Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers was a guest on the Nasty Knuckles podcast hosted by former National Hockey League enforcer Riley Cote and legendary Philadelphia Flyers Equipment Manager Derek Settlemyre.
During episode 108 which included subjects like Leadership, John Tortorella, the Trade Deadline producer Travis Ballinghoff who is off-screen interrupts the episode for «Breaking News» by Hockey Insider Elliot Friedman that Laughton had been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
At that moment, Laughton reaches for his phone to double-check the news that he just hears and goes silent for a moment contemplating it. Within seconds Ballinghoff admits that he was messing with him while Laughton uses some colorful language suggesting that he's still shaking, <> and that <>.
As the clip closes Settlemyre suggests that he <>, but as he's laughing, apologizes for the gag.
While the trade deadline is a stressful experience for players, it's good to see guys can still laugh while going through the emotional turmoil of the moment. Having to move to a different organization can lead to exciting experiences however fans and the like rarely take into consideration that the player is a person first and uprooting themselves and presumably family could lead to challenging moments
