The investigation into the tragedy surrounding Adam Johnson and the Elite Ice Hockey League continues. However, UK Police say one major part of it has been finished.
Officers are telling the public that the investigation at the rink where it happened is done. However, that doesn't mean the investigation is over.
"Our officers have now left the scene, however due to the complex nature of this tragic and unprecedented incident, it is likely the wider investigation will take some time."
"We continue to encourage the public to avoid speculation, including on social media, while we continue our enquiries and will provide updates when appropriate."
Johnson died after receiving a cut to the neck from the skate of opponent Mat Petgrave. While Johnson's team and the league have called it a "freak accident", police are attempting to determine if that was actually the case.
At least two of Johnson's teammates have said publicly they don't believe there was any intent involved, and what happened was 100 percent an accident. However, police are expected to investigate any time someone dies under abnormal circumstances.
