After another difficult season the San Jose Sharks are looking towards the future. With Doug Wilson stepping down as General Manager, the Sharks will soon begin their exhaustive search for a new General Manager. But the lack of a permanent General Manager isn't stopping the Sharks from making moves for next season.
Last week the San Jose Sharks announced that had signed signed SHL superstar Max Veronneau and today they followed that up with another SHL signing. The Sharks have signed star goalie Strauss Mann as well. Both contracts are one year and begin next season.
The 26-year-old Veronneau led the Swedish Hockey League in goals with 34 and was ranked second in the league with 60 points in 51 games.
Max had a great season this year in Europe, leading the Swedish Hockey League in goals and being named the SHL's Most Valuable Player. He has produced at every level offensively and previously was an ECAC Champion with Princeton. We look forward to him joining our organization.
As for Mann, the American-born goaltender played the entire season in Sweden following a NCAA career that ended in 2021. He also earned a spot with the U.S. Olympic team for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, China.
Strauss is a quick athletic goalie with history of leadership and success exemplified by being named the first goalie Captain at University of Michigan in 78 years. He followed his successful collegiate career with a strong season for Skelleftea in the SHL and represented Team USA at the most recent Olympics. We look forward to adding a quality goaltender and person to our organization.
