Yesterday the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that Rasmus Sandin had agreed to a 2-year contract to rejoin the team. The announcement couldn't have come at a better team after the Maple Leafs were inundated with a handful of injuries in a matter of days. Today Sheldon Keefe provided an update on some of those injuries.

During the Maple Leafs' preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens, the Leafs lost both Jordie Benn and Carl Dahlstrom to injury. Before practice Keefe confirmed the worst for Dahlstrom.

Carl Dahlstrom will need surgery and is out a minimum of six month.

Jordie Benn is out a minimum of 3 weeks.

Dahlstrom was injured on what appeared to be a harmless collision in the corner with a Montreal player. But upon standing Dahlstrom could be seen shaking his left arm in some discomfort.

With Jake Muzzin (Back), Timothy Liljegren (Hernia) and both Benn/Dahlstrom out, the Maple Leafs depth on defense will definitely be tested over the coming weeks. Hopefully Ilya Samsonov and Matt Murray are up for the challenge.
