Update on the fan who was forced to leave by security after receiving stick from Nick Suzuki
Yesterday we shared the story of young Hunter Beauparlant, who unfortunately was hit in the face by a puck thrown by Nick Suzuki. Hunter's father Steven shared the following information:
#NickSuzuki #14ClassAct @CanadiensMTL
Thanks Nick for taking a selfie & making sure Hunter was ok after he didn't catch the puck you tossed him😂He loves the stick, puck autograph & Fat Lip😉A memory that will last a lifetime. Had to leave the game cause the stick wasn't aloud🤣
What caught many people's attention was that the young boy was forced to leave the game. This immediately drew criticism from many and rightfully so.
But the Toronto Maple Leafs and Scotiabank Arena have addressed the situation and shared additional details.
According to Scotiabank Arena policy, the stick is considered to be a weapon and the arena staff offered the family the ability to leave the stick with staff at the arena store, but he refused. The refusal to let the stick out of his sight and therefore meant the family had to leave the arena.
Now according to John Lu, the Montreal Canadiens are looking into what happened and are hoping to possibly make things right for young Hunter.
Let's hope this story had a happy ending.
