This is likely something you may have never seen before during a hockey game, but KHL's Nikita Dynyak lost his cell phone in the middle of a hockey game.

Professional hockey players should know better than taking their phones onto the ice. But in one surreal moment of a KHL game, Kazan Ak-Bars forward Nikita Dynyak inadvertently did just that.

The 27-year-old was skating in a game against Avangard when his phone came loose from his gear and fell to the ice. None the wiser, Nikita Dynyak continued playing like nothing was wrong.

It wasn't until a game official spotted the stray phone, scooped it up, and brought it to the Ak-Bars bench that Dynyak realized it was his. There's no word on whether the phone survived its icy adventure.

Dynyak has played his entire pro career in Russian hockey, the last five seasons with Kazan Ak-Bars.

He's been at the center of attention before, most notably in 2021, when he and Karlis Cukste got into a fight that ended with both players landing simultaneous blows and hitting the ice.

Never one to shy away from a scrap, Dynyak recently went toe-to-toe with former NHL defenseman Tony DeAngelo, currently with SKA St. Petersburg.

Tony DeAngelo was known for being one of the most controversial players to ever play in the NHL, but he seems to be doing just fine over in the KHL as that style of hockey suits his character.

As for why Dynyak had a phone on his person during a game? Your guess is as good as anyone's. If the device miraculously survived its involuntary flight, he can consider himself fortunate he won't be replacing it anytime soon.
