The Los Angeles Kings 2024/25 season is going much better than anyone could have hoped for, and with the team sitting second in the Pacific Division, their deep forward group is ready to lead this team into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Because of that depth, they've surprisingly waived former second-round draft pick Arthur Kaliyev, who has been dealing with a broken collar bone this season and is yet to play for the Kings at the NHL level.
Given the fact that he is just 23-years of age and has proven he can be solid in the NHL, the expectation is that there will be plenty of interest in him over the next 24 hours, with many teams around the league looking to land 23-year old's with immense potential.
Now, The Fourth Period have reported that one team with added motivation to add Kaliyev are the Ottawa Senators, who have links to the talented young star from his time as a Hamilton Bulldog in the Ontario Hockey League.
According to the Ottawa Sun, the Senators have expressed interest in Kaliyev in the past, as Sens GM Steve Staios is familiar with Kaliyev from their days with the Hamilton Bulldogs organization.
While he's not been at his best over the past 18 months due to injuries, Kaliyev posted a solid 27 and 28 points in his first two full seasons in the league, showcasing that he still has the potential to be a full-time NHLer.
Now, the Senators will be hoping to land the 6-foot-2 forward as they look to continue their push to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where they seemingly believe Kaliyev could play a crucial role.
