The Toronto Maple Leafs have needed some defensive help for a while now, even though they've performed well to this point. Many thought they would be getting it when they acquired on of the top defensive prospects in college hockey from the Carolina Hurricanes, but he had remained unsigned for some time.
According to Puck Reporter on X, the Maple Leafs Hockey East Standout, Cade Webber to a 2-year, entry level deal and he will join the team in the coming days; take a look.
#LeafsForever prospect Cade Webber is signing a 2-year entry-level contract with the club that starts now, per

.
Drafted 2019 4th round, had 6 pts in 38 GP for Boston University. Acquired from Carolina in March for a 2026 6th.
Webber, 23, played in 38 games for Boston University this season, scoring 6 points, all of which were assists while being voted the top defensive defender in Hockey East this year as well.
You never want to put too much pressure on a kid coming into the National Hockey League late in the year, but there's reason to be optimistic Webber can help the Leafs on the back end right now.
We'll see if he gets into a game here before the season is over, but now there is some serious competition on the back end for minutes and games if there wasn't competition already.
