NHL Department of Player Safety announces multi-game suspension
NHL Department of Player Safety announces multi-game suspension for Dmitry Kulikov
Yesterday afternoon, the NHL Department of player safety announced that Dmitry Kulikov had been summoned for a hearing. The hearing stemmed from Kulikov ejection against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kulikov delivered a high hit on Conor Sheary of the Lightning in front of the Tampa Bay net.
George Parros announced today that the league has officially suspended Kulikov for two games for his hit.
Florida's Dmitry Kulikov has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on Tampa Bay's Conor Sheary.
Fans were divided on whether this hit was clean or dirty, but it appears the league has finally made the decision to cut down on this sort of play. It will be interesting to see if the league finds consistency in punishing these sorts of hits, or if this is just another one-off situation by the DoPS.
