Ilya Samsonov unveils new Curtis Joseph tribute mask
Earlier this year, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ilya Samsonov were unable to come to an agreement on a new contract. The two parties instead agreed to take part in the NHL's arbitration process to determine the goalies next contract. After the process completed many fans wondered if the Leafs and Samsonov would end up with some hard feelings between the two parties.
It appears that if there are hard feelings, they won't prevent Samsonov from taking the opportunity to honor a Maple Leafs fan favorite. Today, Ilya Samsonov unveiled a brand new mask for next season, which pays an incredible tribute to Maple Leafs Legend, Curtis Joseph.
The mask, which looks very similar to Joseph's is a great tribute to the former Leaf, who reportedly nearly made a return to the team last year in an emergency backup role. It's great to see Samsonov's new mask and it's always nice to see a player honoring those who came before him.
