The Boston Bruins are looking to upgrade their depth at the middle of the ice this summer. There has been a hole in the depth chart since the retirement of long-time Bruins David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron. The franchise's current depth at centre ice filled in admirably this season with Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle and Morgan Geekie all having career years. General Manager Don Sweeney would still like to strengthen the position with a long-time target rumored to be their number #1 choice.
Lindholm was traded by the Calgary Flames in February, to the Vancouver Canucks. His production was mediocre for his caliber of player during the regular season. Lindholm only scored 6 goals and 12 points in 26 games, with the 29 year old, struggling to find his fit in the lineup. He was much more impactful during Vancouver's playoff run, scoring 5 goals and 10 points in 13 games. Vancouver would fall short losing in Game 7 of the conference semifinals to the Edmonton Oilers.
Wherever Lindholm lands he will surely cash in. Looking at the upcoming free agent class he is the 2nd best centreman on the list behind Steven Stamkos. Lindholm wrapped up his six-year, $29.1M contract he signed with the Flames in 2018. He was on a bargain $4.85M AAV and will look to climb into the $8M range.
