Detroit Red WIngs Jack Campbell has entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.

Goaltender Jack Campbell who has had difficulties maintaining success since his time in Toronto and signed a one-year contract for the 2024-2025 season with the Detroit Red Wings has entered the National Hockey League/NHLPA, Player Assistance Program.

The Thirty-Two-Year-Old Campbell is an eleven year veteran of 176 games where he's held a 93-52-18 record along with a career 2.76 GAA and a .909 save percentange.

Campbell is more of the likeable goaltenders in recent memory but unfortunately could not put anything together after signing a five-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers before the 20220-2023 season. Unfortunately for him, he was cut after last season finishing the season in the AHL with Bakersfield, the affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

Campbell, a career backup was traded by the Los Angeles Kings along with Kyle Clifford in February 0f 2020 and was given every single opportunity to be the starting goaltender in Toronto, that success was parlayed into the long-term contract the Oilers handed him just two seasons ago.

Whatever Campbell had been experiencing and may still be experiencing it's only normal for your heart to go out to him. The goaltending position is the most mentally taxing job in hockey and a tremendous amount of pressure is put on them. Whether Campbell is dealing with some mental health issues or a substance abuse issue is unknown at this time but in hindsight, it doesn't matter.

Those of us at Blade of Steel wish nothing but the best for Jack and hope to see him between the pipes in no time.
