NHL Fans Call Out Rangers Enforcer Matt Rempe After Yet Another Dirty Hit
Fans across the NHL are collectively done with Matt Rempe's antics based on their response to his hit on Miro Heiskanen last night.
Matt Rempe was ejected last night after boarding Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen.
The play drew the ire of not only Stars fans, but fans across the NHL.
Many fans have correctly pointed out that Rempe simply is not an NHL level player.
He is just a goon who plays five minutes a game and runs around looking for opportunities to injure important players on the other team.
Its almost like he's a character from Slapshot.
Last night was Rempe's first NHL game in nearly a month and he got less than 6 minutes of ice time before being ejected for the 4th time in his career.
He's played in 22 career NHL games. In fact, as one fan pointed out, he has more ejections than career points.
Some think that he is setting a bad example for young hockey fans.
Rempe playing in the NHL at all proves that you can make it in the league just by being tall and reckless.
It is pretty clear that he does not have the skill set of an NHL player just the body and the physicality. This does not set a good example for the kids.
Apparently, the NHL's Department of Player Safety agrees with the fan response as it was announced today that he would have an in-person hearing for hit hit.
An in-person hearing gives the DoPS the chance to suspend Rempe for more than five games, so we may very well see our longest suspension of the season handed out tonight or tomorrow morning.
