Breaking News - Seattle Kraken top prospect Shane Wright being sent to Moncton
The Seattle Kraken have had a stellar start to the season. The currently sit 2nd in the Pacific Division, with a 15-7-3 record. Dave Hakstol has had the last laugh this season, turning around what many NHL fans thought was a loser franchise.
Their rookie Shane Wright was a dark spot on an otherwise bright season, as the Center was sent down to the AHL for a conditioning stint recently. Since he's returned, he's netted his first NHL goal.
And there's the word, we will see Wright with his fellow Junior athletes on the big stage, in the IIHF World Juniors.
According to Darren Dreger the Kraken will be releasing Wright tomorrow to the Canadian World Juniors team. This will give Canada a significant advantage down the middle with Wright and Connor Bedard. This should give Wright significant playing time and an opportunity to play major role with the team.
It's sometimes easy to forget this is the first time the Kraken have had to make development choices about a top prospect. The Kraken's first draft choice Matt Beniers was already committed to another year of College when he was selected by the Kraken. Wright's development has been a large learning experience for both the Kraken and GM Ron Francis.
