Ethan Bear talks about scoring a goal minutes after Gino Odjick passed away
News broke earlier this evening that former Vancouver Canucks' enforcer, Gino Odjick had passed away at the age of 52. At the time of Odjick's passing the Canucks were facing off against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canucks were trailing the Hurricanes 2-0 late in the second period.
Almost immediately after Odjick's passing, Ethan Bear picked up the puck and scored an incredible goal. The goal brought the Canucks within one goal at the time.
The Canucks would comeback to win the game 4-3 in a shootout. After the game Bear discussed the emotion of the goal.
I heard I scored right after he (Gino Odjick) passed. I think that is pretty powerful. It was meant to be, maybe he was there for me on that shot.
Sometimes it's hard not to be emotional about hockey and the people involved in the game.
