Fans already calling out William Nylander for embarrassing effort to avoid a hit (Video)
There is absolutely no question to anyone that William Nylander is exceptionally talented. The 26-year-old has continued to grow as a scorer over the last 7 seasons. Last season Nylander had a career best 80 points in 82 games.
One thing Nylander has always been critiqued about though is his compete level. At times Nylander seems disengaged and can often make a concentrates effort to avoid being hit. It's clear by watching Nylander he has all the tools physically but he lacks the willingness to go to the dirty areas.
Last year in the playoffs Nylander got called out on a live broadcast for his lack of effort, and it appears nothing has changed. Tonight during a preseason game Nylander showed off some of the same behavior.
Leafs fans were clearly upset by this, they immediately reacted to this and they weren't happy.
If the Leafs want to break their first round curse they're going to need to get over this sort of effort.
