Two Metropolitan Division teams connected to JT Miller
It appears after all the talk this summer between the Vancouver Canucks and center JT Miller has broken down.
According to Vancouver Hockey Now, there are three potential suitors in the Metropolitan Division for Miller.
Mentioned are the Carolina Hurricanes and Don Waddell, who could deal Martin Necas and/or Brett Pesce or Ethan Bear, for the leadership of Miller and would allow Necas to make a bigger impact elsewhere.
Hurricanes GM Don Waddell and Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford are old pals, which doesn't hurt, and Waddell has an excellent relationship with Canucks GM Patrik Allvin as well.
Another team mentioned who could help the Canucks fill their blueline with needed skill, is the New Jersey Devils. Miller could be moved for Damon Severson, who will be a UFA at the end of this season, so in order to make it work, Patrik Allvin would need to sign him.
Miller would add needed skill on the wings for Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier, along with bringing his leadership to a younger team.
For either team, Miller could be a low-cost rental, but at this point what kind of assets, do the Hurricanes or Devils have to part with?
They shouldn't have to do more than a 1st or 2nd rounder to make it work, but moving Necas and a defenseman would save Waddell needed assets for the next draft class.
«Every time someone said something, 99-percent of that is not real, it's a rumour mill,» Miller said. «I was traded to the Penguins twenty times this summer, I don't know if you heard about that. There's a lot of BS going on with the internet and all that, that's mainly the reason I don't have any of it.»
So what will the Canucks end-game be when Miller and his agent cut off talks? What happened if Allvin gambles and loses him for nothing?
Bruce, there it is!
