Vladimir Tarasenko updates his previous trade request
Last off-season there was a lot of noise coming out of St. Louis that their long time sniper Vladimir Tarasenko wanted to be traded. But it seems now that he's had a bit of a change of heart after having some health and success with the Blues this season.
Coming off back to back years of injury shortened seasons. He only played a total of 34 games between the 2019-2020 season and 2020-2021 season. He only managed 7 goals and 17 assists during that span. This had many GMs thinking Vladdy's best days might be behind him.
Tarasenko let teams know he still had it with his play this season. He led the Blues in goals and points this season. He had 34 goals and 82 points in 75 games.
He formed the «Russian line» with fellow Russian teammates Pavel Buchnevich and Ivan Barbashev. This lead to career seasons for all three.
Tarasenko is signed through the 2022-2023 season at a cap hit of 7,500,000. He will be a UFA after next season. He seems settled in St. Louis again and okay with sticking around to finish off his contract.
