The Vancouver Canucks have agreed to terms on a one year contract with one of the last remaining serviceable free agents in the NHL.
We are in what most people call the dog days of the NHL off-season when there's not a whole lot going on but sometimes team surprise you by finding diamonds in the rough or getting good bargain deals and that is exactly what Vancouver Canucks have done today.
According to Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet, the Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Daniel Sprong to a one year deal worth $975,000

Sprong, 27, played in 76 games for the Detroit Red Wings last season collecting a total of 43 points, including 18 goals and 25 assists.
The Vancouver Canucks have made a very smart move in picking up Sprong, he's a player that knows how to put the puck in net and can be a serviceable 40+ point player in the NHL given the right opportunities. If used in the bottom 6 on a scoring line Sprong could flourish in Vancouver while being part of a stronger team in the western conference, which would allow him to play with better players
