New York Islanders finally trade Josh Bailey but it comes at a hefty price
Lou Lamoirello made it clear earlier this week that he'd made mistakes. Lou also made it clear that he was going to try and undo some of those mistakes to create salary cap room. Today Lou was finally able to unload one of his larger contracts.
The Islanders have officially announced they have traded Josh Bailey to the Chicago Blackhawks in a cap dump. That cap dump however comes at a price as the Islanders were forced to attach a 2nd round pick to Bailey, while receiving zero return.
#Isles have traded Josh Bailey and a 2026 2nd Round pick to the #Blackhawks for future considerations.
Pure salary dump.
Bailey is in the final year of a contract with a cap hit of 5 million for next season. In 64 games last season Bailey had only 25 points.
