Blidh was forced to leave the game, after playing only five shifts and less than four minutes of ice time, with an upper-body injury, while Wilson didn't even receive a penalty on the play. Not only Bruins fans, but fans around the National Hockey League were outraged when it was revealed that Wilson would not be suspended for the incident.
Just over 18 months later, Anton Blidh has come to the defence of Wilson and says that the Capitals forward's hit on him was clean, going as far as calling it 'beautiful'. Blidh also used it as a teaching tool, sharing the video on his Twitter account, telling younger players to ensure they always keep their head up on the ice.
While Blidh has admitted that the hit on him was clean, there will likely still be several people that think it was a dirty, unnecessary play. What are your thoughts on the hit? Let us know in the poll below!
CLEAN hit!! Got my wind knocked out but other than that beautiful hit!
It's totally on me. Young kids, if you ever cut in to the middle, be ready and keep your head up. https://t.co/mHqqC1tnC7 Anton Blidh (@bliddan) June 28, 2023
