Former first-round pick leaving the NHL after parts of six seasons
According to VK.com, former Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens forward Denis Gurianov is leaving the National Hockey League and will be signing with CSKA Moscow in the KHL.
"CSKA is negotiating with Denis Gurianov to sign a contract."
Gurianov, 26, was the 12th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars. He would play parts of six seasons in Dallas, helping them reach the 2020 Stanley Cup Final, before being traded to Montreal for Evgenii Dadonov in February. In 280 career games, Gurianov has 111 points (51 goals, 60 assists).
Should Gurianov's contract with CSKA Moscow become official in the coming days, as is expected, it won't be his first rodeo in the KHL. He spent 55 games with HC Lada Togliatti during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, recording six points (four goals, two assists), eight penalty minutes and was a minus-12.
