Moments ago, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news that the juggernaut Boston Bruins have made another big addition ahead of the trade deadline, this time acquiring forward Tyler Bertuzzi from the Detroit Red Wings.

Bertuzzi is a young, physical forward with scoring ability. At 28 years old and a pending free agent, he is likely a rental for the Bruins. Bertuzzi notched a career high of 30 goals and 62 points in 60 games last season, although hes struggled to produce this year plagued by injury.

With some untapped scoring potential and the reputation of one of the league's best pests, the Boston Bruins just added a massive piece to their roster and team identity.

The Detroit Red Wings, a day removed from extending captain Dylan Larkin and trading Filip Hronek, seem to be pivoting their rebuild on the fly. Being a younger player that the team could've re-signed, it wasn't necessary for the Wings to trade Bertuzzi, and so he garnered a decent return for the Wings.

In return for Bertuzzi, the Red Wings will receive a protected first round draft pick in 2024, and a fourth round draft pick in 2025.

With another big addition not even a week after the team acquired Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway, the Boston Bruins are loading up to face a unprecedentedly strong eastern conference in the playoffs this year.
