The Minnesota Wild are set to go through some serious turbulence in their season for the next while. Their starting goalie Filip Gustavsson was placed on injured reserve today after suffering a lower-body injury during the Wild's 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
According to Athletic journalist Michael Russo, Gustavsson will undergo «another MRI» tomorrow, and is expected to miss «at least a couple weeks.»
Gustavsson wasn't the only Wild player to suffer an injury as superstar winger Kirill Kaprizov exited the game early against the Jets with an injury as well. The 26 year old, Kaprizov is expected back miss one to two weeks due to his injury.
Kaprizov has played 34 games this season scoring 13 goals and 34 points while averaging 21:06 in ice time.
The 25 year old Gustavsson has a record of 10-9-2 with a 2.95 GAA and .903 save percentage. The Swedish native had secured the starting role ahead of the veteran Marc-Andre Fleury before his injury.
The Wild are currently in second last place in the Central Division with a record of 16-15-4 but are only out of the final Wild Card position by four points. Their next stretch of games could prove crucial to their playoff aspirations and they will be doing so without two of their best players.
