Wild reportedly listening to offers on former 1st rounder Marco Rossi
The Minnesota Wild are looking to change their fortune for the 2024-25 season after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year. There could be some changes made to the roster and they may be willing to move one of their former first round picks.
According to Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period, the Minnesota Wild are willing to listen to offers on former first round pick Marco Rossi, but are not actively shopping him.
"As TFP's Anthony Di Marco reported Thursday, the Wild are also listening on young centre Marco Rossi, who has one year remaining on his entry-level contract. Guerin is not actively shopping Rossi, but he is willing to explore trade options and any move would likely be a talent-for-talent swap."
Rossi, a native of Feldkirch, Austria, appeared in all 82 of Minnesota's games this season, which was his rookie campaign in the National Hockey League. In those 82 games, Rossi had 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists), 47 penalty minutes and was a minus-four.
The 22-year-old centerman would fit in well with a team that's looking to turn the corner next season and make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. One of those teams that could be a potential fit is the Montreal Canadiens. While Montreal has Nick Suzuki and one of Alex Newhook or Kirby Dach as their top two centers, Rossi would be a perfect third line centerman for the team, bringing some scoring depth and grit to the lineup.
There will be plenty of interest in Marco Rossi this summer and teams will certainly be calling Wild General Manager Bill Guerin to try and swing a deal for the young Austrian. It'll be interesting to see how this develops over the coming weeks and into the summer.
