The Pittsburgh Penguins have reportedly talked about a trade regarding a former 40-goal scorer.

In recent weeks, Pittsburgh Penguins forward and former 40-goal scorer Jake Guentzel has seen his name pop up in trade rumours as we quickly approach the deadline, which is less than two months away.

It's still unclear what the Penguins' plan is for Jake Guentzel, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, but on a radio show on Wednesday, General Manager Kyle Dubas said that they have not engaged in trade talks with any other teams regarding the forward.

"We haven't had any discussions with teams about Jake anything out there is pure speculation," general manager Kyle Dubas said.

He went on to add, "We'll continue to go through the season here and I'll continue to evaluate where we're at, and either after the All-Star break or after the season we'll do what's best for everybody best for the Penguins, best for Jake, and we'll determine that together.

"That's really it."

The 29-year-old is currently only one goal away from his seventh consecutive 20+ goal season and if he becomes available before the trade deadline, there's a very good chance there will be multiple contenders interested, which could land the Penguins several pieces for the future.

In 42 games this season, the Omaha native has 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a plus-12.

With his future within the Penguins organization, uncertain, it's looking more and more like he could be moved. If that happens, the Vancouver Canucks will be in the mix.
