NHL Free Agency can be a very humbling experience for a player. When you expect your phone to ring and offers to flow, and that doesn't happen, it can bring a realization. Sometimes the game of hockey is done with you, before you're done with it.

That's exactly what's happened to Kyle Turris.

Today Turris announced that at the age of 33, he'd officially played his final NHL game. Turris played the last two seasons as a member of the Edmonton Oilers, but saw limited action. In 776 career games, Turris scored 168 goals and 257 assists.

Turris was drafted 3rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2007. But most of his success was found as a member of the Ottawa Senators.

While stepping away from the NHL, Turris will be pursuing a career in hockey management as he will be joining the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL in a management/player development role.
